Baltimore Orioles Call Up Top Prospect Heston Kjerstad
Orioles Select Contract of No. 3 Prospect
Kjerstad, 24, to Join Major League Team
The Baltimore Orioles have selected the contract of outfielder and first baseman Heston Kjerstad from the Norfolk Tides, the team's Triple-A affiliate. The 24-year-old Kjerstad is considered one of the Orioles' top prospects and is ranked as the No. 3 prospect in the organization by MLB Pipeline.
Kjerstad was originally drafted by the Orioles in the first round of the 2018 MLB Draft. He has spent the past few seasons developing in the Orioles' minor league system, where he has been a consistent performer. In 2022, Kjerstad batted .284 with 24 home runs and 83 RBIs in 110 games for the Bowie Baysox, the Orioles' Double-A affiliate.
Kjerstad's call-up to the major leagues is a sign of the progress he has made in his development. He is expected to make his major league debut soon and could provide a boost to the Orioles' offense, which has struggled at times this season.
