Panthers Crush Bruins 6-3 in Game 2
Montour Scores Twice as Florida Takes Series Lead
Boston, MA (April 20, 2023)
In a stunning upset, the Florida Panthers defeated the Boston Bruins 6-3 in Game 2 of their playoff series. Defenceman Brandon Montour led the way for the Panthers, scoring two goals and Matthew Tkachuk added a goal and two assists.
The Bruins came out strong in the first period, taking an early 1-0 lead on a goal by Anton Blidh. However, the Panthers stormed back in the second period, scoring three unanswered goals to take a 3-1 lead. Montour got the Panthers on the board with a power-play goal at 6:42, and Sam Bennett and Tkachuk added goals later in the period.
The Bruins managed to cut the lead to one goal early in the third period on a goal by David Pastrnak. However, Montour struck again at 11:46, giving the Panthers a 4-2 lead. The Bruins pulled goalie Jeremy Swayman with over four minutes remaining, but the Panthers took advantage of the empty net, scoring twice in the final two minutes to seal the victory.
The Panthers now hold a 2-0 lead in the series. Game 3 will be played in Sunrise, Florida, on Friday night.
